Peterson - watercolor

      I've never seen Peterson without a pipe in his mouth. Sometimes in the summer he would wear his overalls to church because he'd already put in a few hours of work and had to get right back at it after lunch.

      The reference photo for this is actually from a photograph taken as part of the Federal Art Project, which was sponsored by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in the 1930s and 40s. I believe the photo is of a New England farmer taken in the early 1940s.

      A whiskey painting is done with traditional watercolors, except whiskey or some other alcohol is used instead of watercolor. They also must be no larger than 4"x5". This one was done with Glen Fiddich.
      Yes, this is a thing. I was unaware of it until last week. But there is a Whiskey Painters Association that has been in existence for 50 years or so. I'll probably never join since you have to know and be nominated by an existing member. It's still a fun little time-killer.
