Bicycle #3 - gouache

gouache, 2015
NFS, 11"x15"

I love where this one went. I knew gouache could be used to duplicate the look of oils without the fumes, danger and technical mumbo-jumbo. And, that's sort of where I've been heading. But, this one blows me away. It just fell into place.

Green Bike, Marshall NC - watercolor

watercolor, 2015
original available, 11"x15" $100

Still struggling with a looser, more impressionist approach. While painting, I feel like certain things are working well, like the red and gold molding and the potted plant. Other things just don't seem right. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I just have to get used to seeing the finished product of a loose style and remember that I'm trying to get away from photographic realism.

59 Harley - gouache

gouache, 2014
original available, 11"x15" $250

I've been meaning to do some motorcycles for several years now. The engine detail always seemed daunting. The looser, semi-abstract style I've been developing is perfect for it, though. This already is one of my new favorites.
