Downtown Salisbury NC in December with some of the city decorations in view. The reference was shot early one morning just before I picked up my daughter from school for Christmas break.

This is from a shot I took at the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kitty Hawk NC last March. My wife and I went back to the Outer Banks for our 25th anniversary. We spent a short honeymoon there in 1990 and have only been back once since then. This is her walking up to the monument on a very chilly morning.
It's appropriate that posting this piece just happened to fall during this week as her birthday is today. Happy birthday, Red!

Just a quick, little still life. I haven't done any shoes in a while and I've had this reference for a couple years now. I initially thought I might try to do this in a more impressionistic style. But the realism just fell out, I guess, out of habit.

Yet another reference from Scotland. The reference photo for this one wasn't quite so dark and foreboding. But, it's a ruin of a Scottish castle. It's just screaming for a gothic horror treatment. It's just a quick sketch anyway.

Another one from Scotland for Virtual Paintout. In some locations for VP it's hard to find anything that appeals to me. Then there's Ireland and now Scotland where I can't stop myself. There's a limit of three pieces for the VP site. But, I already have eight references set aside, including two more views of this church. I might not do them all, or, I might do them and find more.
From the technical side, I don't think I could have asked for this one to have turned out better. It's every bit the British Impressionism I've been chasing.

Virtual Paintout is in Scotland this month. I may be doing several from this beautiful country.

Just a loose painting of an old Pontiac I did over a couple lunch hours a while back.
